A deeply personal piano composition that became a source of healing and hope during one of the nation’s darkest periods. Staying Home began as a private musical gift for a dear friend facing a serious illness. Olga composed this tender, contemplative piece with healing intention, and her friend made a full recovery. Feeling the piece’s powerful healing energy, Olga chose to share it more widely during the COVID-19 lockdown when the entire nation needed consolation and hope. In January 2021, during Lockdown 3.0, Olga created a visual tribute to accompany the music—a slideshow of photographs she had taken of her beloved London, deserted but hauntingly beautiful in its emptiness. The images and music together carried a message of comfort and optimism: London was not abandoned, merely resting, gathering strength for its inevitable return to the hustle and bustle everyone loved. Originally released under a different title on streaming platforms, the piece was repurposed as Staying Home for this May 2020 NHS charity concert, where it served a broader healing purpose—offering solace not just to one person, but to an entire country navigating unprecedented challenges. Professor Chris Whitty had warned that the coming weeks would see “the worst” of the virus peak, and Olga offered this music as a gentle reminder to stay safe, stay home, and find moments of peace and reflection during the crisis. The piece stands as a testament to music’s power to heal—whether for one beloved friend or for a nation in need.
